North Dublin Opera are delighted to present a Celebration of the Music of Rogers and Hammerstein! This spectacular once-off show features hits from all your favorite musicals, including, “The Sound of Music,” “The King and I,” “Oklahoma” and many more, sung by a cast of opera’s finest young classical musicians, joined by a fantastic chorus of local children.
Put together and directed by Chris Kelly, who is no stranger to Soundwaves at all: He has contributed to, and put together, a number of shows over the years, in musical theatre, comedy, and other art forms. Having attended Skerries Community College and the Moore School of Performing Arts (and performed in many of their shows over the years), Rush-based Chris is now studying singing at the Dublin Institute of Technology. He is one of the four judges at our Skerries Got Talent competition.
This is the third performance by North Dublin Opera, who did a wonderful concert of opera scenes in Drogheda last year, as well as a concert of Christmas carols in Drumcondra. They’ll be back this year with more Christmas carols in Drumcondra, and possibly in Skerries. The company consists entirely of third-level vocal students, all of them very accomplished singers in their own right.
