Launching Skerries Soundwaves 2013
Today is the day – the tenth Skerries Soundwaves Festival will be launched in style tonight!
Our ten days of music and art kick off at 8 p.m. tonight with a Magical Mystery Tour – the festival launch and the opening of Illustrated Beatles exhibition in The Mills.
We (the Soundwaves organisers, volunteers, and more than just a few of the performers and active participants) hope to see as many festival goers as possible tonight.
I for one am truly looking forward to finally seeing that Illustrated Beatles exhibition I’ve been reading so much about.
42 songs, 42 illustrators, 42 takes on the Beatles! From “A Day in the Life” to “Yesterday”. And light refreshments are promised, too. Who would want to miss that? It’s Skerries contribution to Culture Night, bye the way.
See you there… Fri 20 September, 8 p.m, Skerries Mills.
- And if you want to read about the man behind the Illustrated Beatles:
Tickets selling fast!
The people in The Bubble Room in Strand Street are very busy selling our tickets, and we are hugely grateful to them for doing so. For most events, sales are moving fast, so if you want to make sure you get in on the day, get your tickets as soon as possible!
Three events are now sold out (and the Skerries Got Talent Finale will be very, very shortly):
2 of the 5 Lego Workshops
The President is coming to Skerries (and we cancel our Workshops)
The President is coming to Skerries for the opening of the Sea Memorial (“Bring Back the Pole”) on Sunday 29 September.
Everyone is asked to make their way to the Band Stand from 11 a.m. on the day, so that everything is ready for the President at 11.30 a.m. sharp when he arrives.
That’s fantastic news – alas, it also means that our morning workshops on the day (juggling, theatre, painting, choir) would clash. So we have decided to cancel these workshops… Sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment. Hope you all enjoy the presidential visit, followed by our céilí at 12.45 h out side the church, and Street Party from 2 p.m.!
