This year’s Artwaves was bigger and better than ever and had a record amount of applicants and as per usual the standard was set very high!
It began with the launch of Skerries Soundwaves Festival in Skerries Mill’s on September 15th.
Over the course of the week prior to Soundwaves, Skerries Mill’s and 32 local businesses around Skerries helped the Art trail run by displaying works of Art in their window’s and premises. It made for a lovely stroll around Skerries to see them all! A special thanks to all businesses who donated space and especially to Lisa and John Nealon for the dedicated space they made available to us beside the Goat in The Boat at Skerries Harbour.
This year also seen the introduction to the People’s Choice Award. The public had the opportunity to vote for their favourite piece of Art through text.
The winner of the people’s choice award was Lorraine Sherry for her artwork “Bottle’s”. Lorraine won €500 and also a solo exhibition in Skerries Mill’s in 2017. Well done Lorraine!
