This work was inspired by the constant ebb & flow of nature and how landscapes & seascapes are moulded by tides and erosion...I am particularly interested in the relationship between land & sea and how this shapes the coastline.

Deirdre lives in Loughshinny, Skerries, Co. Dublin. She gained a BA (Hons) Visual Arts Practice, IADT, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, and a Rhodec Diploma in Interior Design, Griffith College, Dublin. She also has a background in General & Paediatric Nursing.
Deirdre's solo show 'Henrietta's Dance' at deAppendix's alternative art space, Blackrock, Co Dublin in 2013 was critically well received. She has exhibited in a broad range of arts spaces - temporary, commercial, public spaces and studios, including Rua Red Community Arts Centre café; Market Studios, Dublin; Tallaght Hospital; Block T, Dublin; O'Connell Bridge, Dublin; Irish Philosophical Society's Cultural Day at Townley Hall, Co Meath in November 2015.
Deirdre has worked collaboratively with groups such as Autonomous Republic of Creative Practitioners and on projects including, 'Temporary Autonomous Zone', 'Tactic Project', 'Redundant', 'Temporary Measures' and 'Lying in Wait'.
Her work was exhibited at the 18th IPOS World Congress - 'Psycho- Oncology, Science, Art & Practice Bridging the Gaps' in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin October 2016; Seminar for International Perspectives on Arts and Health at the Trinity Centre for Learning and Development, Tallaght Hospital, Dublin, May 2015; Gender, Medicine and the Body Conference at Trinity College Dublin, March 2015.
Her mini documentary 'The Way Back Home', which was created in collaboration with dance artist Ailish Claffey, was recently first screened at 'Sensing Movement': A Dance, Health and Wellbeing Symposium RUA RED Arts Centre, Tallaght in July 2017
Deirdre published her case study about her Tallaght Hospital Artist-in- Residence project ‚'Lying in Wait' on www.artsandhealth.ie in June 2015
She has worked as a part-time lecturer in Arts & Humanities at DCU School of Nursing 2016 - 2017
She has received several residency awards such as Artist-in-Residence, Tallaght Hospital, Dublin 24; The Boathouse Residency, Loughshinny, Co. Dublin, through Fingal County Council; The Digital Media Residency Award at Fire Station Studios, Dublin 1
Although Deirdre works with video & installation within the Arts and Health realm she has recently renewed her passion for painting land,sky and seascapes.
Her current work explores the process of palette knife painting with oils, drawing her inspiration from the natural landscape to capture an impressionistic essence using texture, colour blending, light and shade.
