I took a photograph of apple trees and these 'windfalls' a few years ago, on a wonderful gardening trip with my mother and sister in Normandy. I chose charcoal to draw the image of the fallen apples as I enjoy the stark black and white of charcoal on paper
Medium: Charcoal drawing on cartridge paper
Kathryn has been involved in various art forms over the years. She has frequently attended art classes for various periods for the last two decades and participated in Group Exhibitions in the Gallery at Ardgillan.
Kathryn has been involved in organising many arts events and exhibitions, including with Balbriggan & Ashbourne Chambers of Commerce; The School of Philosophy at Townley Hall; WildeAboutArt at Brasco's, Skerries; and through her Eíru Craft Store she assisted many Irish artists and craftspersons to build a sustainable arts practise.
Recently Kathryn has been involved in organising Art Holidays and is continuing to explore this as a side interest. Over the last 5 years photography has become an increasing passion alongside her longtime interest in painting.
Art is something I am only able practice in my spare time and as life has moved on I am enjoying having more time to absorb myself in all forms of art.
While currently practising oil painting mostly, I am also taken by drawing, charcoal, pastels, craftwork and am also very interested by photography. I really enjoy seeing the work of professionals and am inspired by the beautiful and thought provoking results of many. This is an area I am keen to learn a lot more about.
