Rebecca Jane Dolan

Emerging Artist Prize - ArtWaves 2017

Rebecca was awarded the 2017 ArtWaves Emerging Artist Prize at the ArtWaves Open-Submission 2017 Awards Event for her stunning Heart&Soul painting. We're sure you'll agree her work is outstanding and shows incredible promise for the future.

She spent two years in Florence, Italy pursuing the tradition of atelier teaching at Charles H. Cecil Studios and then went on to complete her studies in Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin.

The award was presented by Denyze Joyce from Skerries Art School who has nurtured Rebecca's talents for many years and is now delighted to see them blossom.

.....Rebecca's work was displayed in Frock Exchange

Practicing primarily in portraiture, her works aim to capture the personality and likeness of the subject in a wholly naturalistic manner.

Models are carefully transferred onto linen through the “Sight-Size” method,  a technical approach employed by Old Master painters such as Velázquez and Van Dyck, as well as the modern portraitist John Singer Sargent.

The use of a camera is totally avoided in order to free the artist to alter her composition when beauty presents itself in the spontaneous nature of painting from life.
