This painting was drawn and painted en plein air in one sitting on a warm, sultry August day last year. The challenge that day was to capture the everchanging light of that beautiful land and seascape before the ever threatening rain arrived. It never did.

Siobhan was born in Co. Cork 60 years ago to small farmers, turf cutters, craftspeople, lovers of outdoors, music, books and the Irish language. With a background in Primary Education and extensive experience of art and craft teaching Siobhan took early retirement to concentrate on her own art and craft practice.
Siobhan now paints primarily in oils. She also works in silver, bronze, copper and wood to create her jewellery and sculptures.
Siobhan was reared between the rivers Lee and Sullane outside Macroom Co Cork. This afforded wonderful opportunities to observe the wildlife and landscape, particularly the ever changing waterways.
Holidays in the wild places in kerry, days on the bog and boating trips on the rivers all inspired an interest in drawing and painting, other people's and then hers.
Living in Balbriggan the main inspiration for Siobhan's work is the sea and the sky and the place where they meet.
