DAY 1

Booking will be necessary. Each day will have something new in store so come along and join me for all 4 days if you like! Activities might include rock stacking, sand spheres, beach-combing, damn building and of course some sand castle building. 

Bring a shovel and a bucket if possible. Large garden shovels and spades are very useful too. Beach Art is great fun for young and old! Suitable for adults and children.

Starting with a silver bar, the student will use a variety of techniques including forging, soldering and polishing to create a unique piece of jewellery to take home and show off to friends and family. In this workshop you start with either a flat bar or a circular rod of silver - a similar technique as the ring making workshop, only a different scale.

Come join Margaret Becker for her exciting and intimate workshop where you will discover print techniques with drypoint and mono-print for beginners. You will be creating print images in black and white. Your mono prints can be produced very quickly and the results can be taken away and hand coloured with watercolour, gouache or poster paint.

“Breath” Workshop with Artist Fergus Byrne

Fergus Byrne will conduct a peripathetic workshop in the town of Skerries. Participants will be taken on a walk in the area during which different exercises will be proposed, aimed at bringing an alternate focus to ones relationship to the environment. A large part of the walk will be silent allowing for a reflective space to be cultivated. Exercises will vary and include moving at different speeds, stillness, blindness, writing and perhaps drawing. The nature of the day and the group will also feed into the choice of activities.

Please join us for the launch of ArtWaves 2017 which showcases the many talented local artists in Fingal. ArtWaves represents the visual art element of the annual Skerries Soundwaves Festival.

ArtWaves will be formally launched by the Mayor of Fingal, Mary McCamley in Floraville on Strand Street, Skerries, 12.30-1.30pm

ArtWaves and The Art Trail, an exhibition of work by artists, photographers and designers living and/or working in the Fingal area. The exhibition sites are a combination of different venues, such as Skerries Mills, shop windows, business premises and public spaces, which creates the Art Trail around Skerries town.
